Liv Marit Haakenstad is an Accredited Genealogist® (AG®) from the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGen). She is now working on her thesis in non-fiction writing. Haakenstad has written several books on Norwegian emigration and genealogy and has written dozens of articles on computers & genealogy, Norwegian emigration, genealogy, and genealogy technology.

She is a frequent contributor to the research staff of Who Do You Think You Are? TV show and is a well-known speaker at the Who Do You Think You Are? genealogy conference. Her website in Norwegian is found at, and at in English.
